Thank you so much to Child’s Play for making us, as Child Life Specialists, look like the coolest people in the hospital! On the surgical, burn unit where I work, it is an unexpected hospital stay for many patients. As a result, not many kids arrive with anything familiar or comforting from home, so when we are able to offer them an Xbox 360 or an IPad loaded with games, well, let’s just say it makes a world of difference! They relax, get distracted from their discomfort and even use their hands and arms that they thought they couldn’t move because “that ‘tube’ is stuck my arm”. This is what kids remember about the hospital; the fun games they got to play while they were here. Thank you for making these children’s day and helping them get through some tough times. You are truly caring people!
